Know someone in need of prayers? We have a Prayer Chain available for requests of healing, positive news, and restoration. The members of this prayer group are pleased to join together to present your appeal to God collectively. Please contact Jane with requests or interest in joining at LBdickandjane@verizon.net, and your petition will be sent to the Prayer Chain. God hears all.

THIRD THURSDAY???
August 20, 2026
Following a tradition we established last year, we set aside the third Thursday of the month for members from both church services to gather together at a local restaurant for a nice meal. So, we met up again on August 20th at Der Dutchman restaurant. But along the way we realized it’s about much more than the meal. It’s an opportunity to relax, socialize, and get to know each other better. And to top it off, we don’t have to do the dishes….
Thank you to Jane Pettit for sharing these photos of the very first Third Thursday dinner at Der Dutchman on July 17, 2025
FL/GA District/Circuit Partnership Event- January 14, 2026
Good Shepherd hosted this event for Circuit #16 which encompasses
Manatee, Sarasota, and Charlotte Counties. There are 10 LCMS churches
in our circuit, and every church had pastors and representatives from their church councils and elders in attendance, totaling 68 people. President of the Florida/Georgia District, Rev. James Rockey, and his executive team shared their vision for the future and our united mission of “Connecting People to Jesus.”
“As those saved by grace, we must share the message of salvation.
Our focus is on empowering congregations to help individuals
discover the hope and joy of salvation. Our task is to ignite the
disciple-making potential within our congregations, so that all people experience the life-changing love of Jesus.”

BLANKETS FOR CALIFORNIA KIDS-FEB. 2025
Every Saturday morning in February 2025 members of our Good Shepherd Lutheran Church family gathered together to cut, tie, and assemble 50 colorful fleece blankets for children whose families had been displaced from their Altadena, California homes when the Eaton Fire tore through their community. We partnered with Immanuel Lutheran Church in Pasadena to distribute them through their emergency coalition network. We sent the blankets off to CA with a prayer that each child receiving a warm fuzzy blanket would be blessed by this ministry.
